Nick joined the team in the professional shop at Bristol and Clifton Golf Club in June 2016, having previously worked in the shop during the Summer of 2015 and more recently in the professional shop at Minchinhampton Golf Club.
Prior to joining us, Nick completed his Level 3 Extended BTEC Diploma in Sport (Performance and Excellence in Golf) at Hartpury College in Gloucester in May 2016, achieving the top grade of triple Distinction*. During his time at Hartpury College, he was a member of the Elite golf squad and was awarded a scholarship for golf in 2014 and 2015. He represented the 1st team and played in both the Intercollegiate Tour National Finals and the British Schools and Colleges finals.
As a player Nick has represented Gloucestershire County initially at U16, and then progressed to U18 and Men’s second team. Whilst an U16, he was selected for the England South West coaching squad, and twice awarded county medals for outstanding effort and personal improvement. Nick’s final season in 2015 as an amateur culminated in winning both the Gloucestershire County U18 Jeff Hall Order of Merit and the Bristol and District Junior League Gross Order of Merit. Since turning Professional Nick remains competitive and often plays Pro-Ams and on the Gloucester and Somerset PGA circuit. He also enjoys playing socially with members of the Bristol & Clifton golf club.
Nick is in his third and final year of the PGA training programme. He has gained a wide range of experience coaching beginners to low single figure handicaps, and during his training has achieved the PGA ASQ Level 1 and Level 2 coaching qualifications. Nick runs the Junior Coaching at Bristol and Clifton and has also run disabled group coaching in schools and summer camps for foreign students of Clifton College. Nick’s approach to the game is to keep it simple, by identifying a player’s strengths and weaknesses, allowing each individual to play to those strengths whilst working on their weaker points. His coaching is tailored to meet the needs and aspirations of golfers of all abilities and being a ‘leftie’ is equally comfortable coaching both right and left handed players. He very much looks forward to hearing about your golfing aspirations and to working with you to achieve your goals.
